A fun fact about Mystic Falls, they celebrate everything - especially if it's even remotely historical. For Founder's Day, they set aside a week of events. The kickoff party has passed. It was lovely and it was at the Lockwood's like always. But, tonight, tonight is the Bachelorette Auction (amended by Mayor Carol Lockwood to be hip and have a twist of tradition. never one to color too outside the line, Miss Mystic Falls Caroline Forbes endorsed it - so everyone did). The bachelor auction is held inside the world famous Grill.

During the day, the town readies for Founder's Day as they build floats, stages and put up stands. There's even a half day off school and a cookout. The usuals: hot dogs, hamburgers, any condiment you'd like and lemonade better than your relative could make. Live music. Lively fun. Enjoy the festivities.

In the Grill there's a buffet of fried goodness and for those of age (or who can compel people things) it's happy hour. (Carol Lockwood likes her booze)

Each woman steps up to microphone and says something about themselves while bachelors throw out bids.

After, everyone splits off back into the town square for music and the winners get what could be called a date.

"Because I'm still underage. That pesky drinking law. I'm not 21, yet." Is it that big of a surprise? "And my fake was confiscated by my sister last week." She's working on getting herself another one. But, she's here and nobody here provides them.

She winces at that. "Well, Mystic Falls can be a little lax on those underage drinking laws. Just don't let one of the deputies catch you and you should be fine."

[couldwearheels]

"I'll remember that. Anyway, I love the town. I'm from a small town like this in California but we didn't celebrate... anything as much as you do here. Sunnydale more wanted to ignore its history." And high death rate.

There's a pause as the word sinks in and then she turns to face Dawn with wide eyes. "Sunnydale?" Isn't that where the Slayer is from? Or was she from somewhere else? Caroline couldn't really be sure.

[couldwearheels]

How. How does every conversation she has turn into this. Everyone is so nice. And then, slayer. Buffy needs to be better at making friends.

"Not all of them? But, if you're talking about Buffy, yeah. We grew up there after moving away from LA. And yes, we as in she is my sister. Is this the part where you suddenly have somewhere better to be?" Because she's not her sister.

"No." Caroline's voice is a little too high and a little too awkward for that to be entirely the truth, but she clears her throat and continues. "No, I'm just ... wondering the ramifications of getting Buffy's underage sister drunk."

[couldwearheels]

"You're buying me a drink, not getting me drunk. And Buffy is otherwise occupied." Herego, whiskey. "She won't really care. She'll frown, probably whine my name. Besides, I can keep a secret."

[vampireboulevard]

"Secrets. Secrets are good. Your secret is totally safe with me." Or something. Caroline doesn't even know what she's doing right now - she's just trying to salvage herself from her freak out earlier.

[couldwearheels]

"Good," she guesses, also reeling from whatever freakout that was. "Look. I'm fun. And funny and an all around awesome person but if my being Buffy's sister ... if it means something or if it ruins things - I'll understand."

"No! No, that's not it at all. Really. It's just." She takes a breath, leaning in closer so that no one else around can hear them. "I'm a vampire too."

[couldwearheels]

"Oh." A beat. "Are you planning on eating me?" And off her response, "Then we're good. Buffy and everyone else - we know there are shades. Grey shades and other hues and colors. A whole palette. We're just used to no soul having, bite you first vampires. Our vampires. No offense."

[vampireboulevard]

"None taken." But that does give her a small sense of relief. "I just want to be sure that you guys know that we're not all ridiculous and, well, Damon."

[couldwearheels]

"We do. Or, I do. I mean, you have a life. And what looks like a very rich," hot, "boyfriend."

Caroline beams a bit at that. "His family is from like way old money. He's one of the Founding Families, like me. Tyler's a Lockwood."

[couldwearheels]

"So, you're either a Salvatore - which, obviously not. A Fell, a Forbes, a Gilbert," she says, remembering the research she's done.

"Forbes," she says with a nod, before turning and offering a hand. "Caroline Forbes."

[couldwearheels]

"Dawn Summers," she says, properly, taking that hand. "Thank you again for the whiskey."

"No prob," she nods. "Let me know if you need another." And with that, she wanders off to go find her boyfriend. Or bump into Bonnie. Wherever this is in the timeline, she's going to do that.
