A fun fact about Mystic Falls, they celebrate everything - especially if it's even remotely historical. For Founder's Day, they set aside a week of events. The kickoff party has passed. It was lovely and it was at the Lockwood's like always. But, tonight, tonight is the Bachelorette Auction (amended by Mayor Carol Lockwood to be hip and have a twist of tradition. never one to color too outside the line, Miss Mystic Falls Caroline Forbes endorsed it - so everyone did). The bachelor auction is held inside the world famous Grill.

During the day, the town readies for Founder's Day as they build floats, stages and put up stands. There's even a half day off school and a cookout. The usuals: hot dogs, hamburgers, any condiment you'd like and lemonade better than your relative could make. Live music. Lively fun. Enjoy the festivities.

In the Grill there's a buffet of fried goodness and for those of age (or who can compel people things) it's happy hour. (Carol Lockwood likes her booze)

Each woman steps up to microphone and says something about themselves while bachelors throw out bids.

After, everyone splits off back into the town square for music and the winners get what could be called a date.

Tyler knows certain nice touches. He's rough around the edges but he also knows his girlfriend likes champagne.

Hey, he's pouring glasses of champagne here. He holds one out.

"Damon's -- alive - not a fair bet." But, give him a minute. "Stake in the stomach. Maybe back." A beat. "Caroline."

Look. Champagne.

She's looking. And she expects these finer touches from a boyfriend who knows what she likes, but he does get a pleased smile out of her, before clinking her glass to his and inching closer to him.

"I don't know. I still think this could end in violence."

[recrudesce]

Thank you.

"And I think those may be the most romantic words you've ever said to me," he tries. Flirting. He's attempting it. He'd rather not discuss Damon Salvatore while enjoying a date with his serious girlfriend. Speaking of, he's wiped his crazy post-Klaus-gate notion of marriage from his mind. He was momentarily crazy. "Damon's date ends in violence, that's his fault for pissing off a vampire slayer."

"Very true," she says with a smile, before glancing back to him. "I just hope our date doesn't end in violence because of it."

[recrudesce]

"If our date ends in violence, we have more problems than just Damon Salvatore." Considering everyone's dates are very public. "It's not like we can't keep an eye on them." It's like he doesn't want to.

"You're right." He's right. She is going to stop obsessing now. She just exhales slowly and leans back against him. "Let's just focus on us time."

[recrudesce]

"Now, that is the first thing you've said on our date that I can get behind." Of, course, he is behind her currently. "Let's just enjoy the band." He kisses her head. "And each other."

She grins a bit at that, before clinking her glass against his. "Sounds good." And with that, she settles in to enjoy their date.
