A fun fact about Mystic Falls, they celebrate everything - especially if it's even remotely historical. For Founder's Day, they set aside a week of events. The kickoff party has passed. It was lovely and it was at the Lockwood's like always. But, tonight, tonight is the Bachelorette Auction (amended by Mayor Carol Lockwood to be hip and have a twist of tradition. never one to color too outside the line, Miss Mystic Falls Caroline Forbes endorsed it - so everyone did). The bachelor auction is held inside the world famous Grill.

During the day, the town readies for Founder's Day as they build floats, stages and put up stands. There's even a half day off school and a cookout. The usuals: hot dogs, hamburgers, any condiment you'd like and lemonade better than your relative could make. Live music. Lively fun. Enjoy the festivities.

In the Grill there's a buffet of fried goodness and for those of age (or who can compel people things) it's happy hour. (Carol Lockwood likes her booze)

Each woman steps up to microphone and says something about themselves while bachelors throw out bids.

After, everyone splits off back into the town square for music and the winners get what could be called a date.

"Slow down."

Carol admonishes him from over his shoulder as she comes to pick up a plate, though with a considerably less amount of food than the one her son is currently inhaling. She gives him a bit of a look, especially considering she knows he doesn't need to eat it.

"You'll choke."

[recrudesce]

He swallows what he's chewing. He's always been taught not to talk with his mouth full. And, then, his mother is right there. She's already chided him.

"I choke, and I'll just come back to life," he says with a shrug. But, he's kidding. He stops grabbing food altogether. He can listen when he wants to. He also has three hot dogs and a burger. So, he moves on to the condiments.

"How are things going with Founder's Day stuff?"

[mayoralty]

Yeah, that comment just earns him a Look from her, because let's not talk about your tendency to come back to life around the Founder's Council, Tyler. It's not really helpful.

All the same, she takes the subject change and runs with it. "Well. It looks like we're perfectly on track for Founder's Day."

[recrudesce]

No, it's not. But, your son is a smartass and he got that from you. So, be proud of your smartass line of strong women. (He got his anger from his father and trust him, he's working on that.)

"Great. I guess being the mayor's son means I have no choice in dressing up?" Tyler, your girlfriend is Miss Mystic Falls. Tyler lives in a dream world where these events magically dissipate. But, he's also a good son. And he's half joking.

[mayoralty]

"Afraid not," she says with a bit of a smirk. "But I think you can manage one evening." In addition to all the other evenings that Caroline makes him dress up because she's Caroline.

[recrudesce]

"I can. Plus, I get to hold a gun." And that was still pretty cool. A gun that isn't loaded, don't worry. "Everything's looking great, mom."

[mayoralty]

Yeah, she isn't really surprised by thought of him being excited to hold a gun. But moving on. "Good. Hopefully it'll stay that way for the rest of the evening."

[recrudesce]

Knowing their track record? But, he's not bursting his mom's bubble.

"It will." Just you wait. "I should go find Caroline." He leans in for a cheek kiss. "Love you, mom."

[mayoralty]

She smiles a bit at that, returning the cheek kiss before nodding and letting him go. "Love you too."
